Is the Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 compatible with both hot and cold water installations at up to 10 bar and -10°C to +100°C?

Yes. The Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 is suitable for both hot and cold water installations and is rated for operation from -10°C to +100°C with a maximum working pressure of 10 bar. Its brass construction and external BSP threads on both sides make it appropriate for standard piping connections in those temperature and pressure ranges.

Can the Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 be used in potable water systems for both hot and cold supplies?

Yes. The Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 can be used in potable water systems for both hot and cold supplies: it is specified for hot and cold water installations, made of brass, rated for temperatures from -10°C to +100°C and a working pressure of 10 bar. Ensure the brass grade and any wetted surface finishes meet local potable-water regulations (e.g., low-lead requirements) and verify applicable certifications before installation.

Does the Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 require thread sealant or tape for BSP connections?

Does the Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 require thread sealant or tape for BSP connections? Yes. The Reducing nipple with GZ BSP, brass, type 3430 has external BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads on both sides; these are parallel (BSPP) or tapered (BSPT) depending on specification. For reliable, leak-free joints you should use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE (Teflon) tape when making BSP threaded connections: - For BSPT (tapered) threads: use thread sealant or PTFE tape to seal the thread and prevent leaks. Tapered threads seal by the thread interference plus sealant. - For BSPP (parallel) threads: these typically require a sealing method at the mating face (a gasket, bonded washer, or O-ring) if the mating fitting provides a face seal; if no face seal is present, use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to prevent leakage along the thread. Do not rely solely on dry metal-to-metal contact. Use a good-quality PTFE tape rated for potable water if the installation is for drinking water, and wrap tape in the thread direction (clockwise when viewing the end) with 2â3 wraps. If using liquid thread sealant, choose one compatible with brass and potable water and allow recommended cure time. Tighten fittings to the manufacturerâs torque/specification and avoid over-tightening to prevent thread damage. Given the Reducing nippleâs material (brass) and service range (â10°C to +100°C, 10 bar), select sealants approved for those temperatures and pressures. If in doubt, consult the fitting supplier or installation standards for the specific BSP variant and sealing recommendations.
